If you are thinking about starting your own cupcake business from home, and are looking for some practical advice and guidance, this is the class for you! Budding cupcake entrepreneurs usually ask us: Where do you get boxes? Is is ok to bake and freeze cupcakes? How many days in advance do you bake? What was the council inspection like? How does VAT registration work?

When Fair Cake first started, had I (Shikhita) known the answers to these questions, I would have saved much time, energy and money. I will not spend time explaining how to make enormous spreadsheets that would track inventory control. I will focus on what is more basic - how do you deal with two wedding orders for the same Saturday? Or, more importantly, just how do you get a wedding order in the first place? When you have some basics of starting a business right, the details will follow automatically.

We will also discuss some painful mistakes I have made along the way, so hopefully you will be able to aviod them. The class is a lecture based workshop with open discussion with instructors (Shikhita and Jess). We feel that this is an effective and enjoyable way to learn!

NEW SECTION ADDED

From July 2010, we are adding a brand new part to this class. While you listen to the nitty gritty about accounts and advertising, you can also keep a watchful eye on Jess, who will be masterfully creating delectable cupcakes in the background. Please bring your camera to the class if you wish to practice some cupcake photography on fresh cupcakes. We will send you home motivated and with six gorgeous cupcakes that you will have seen created in the signature Fair Cake style!
